Wally is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Margaret, and their 3 children: Oldest son Adam Knapp and his wife Kerri, of San Ramon, California; Lindsey Knapp, daughter, of Roscommon, Michigan; Youngest son Tyler and his wife Gina, and their children, (grandson, Eli James and granddaughter, Alison Ann Marie) of Middleville, Michigan. Brothers Michael Knapp and wife Gloria, of Winter Haven, Florida, and Jeff Knapp and his wife Jayne, of Cadillac, Michigan. Wally is preceded in death by his brother Tim Knapp, and parents Barney and Betty Knapp.

He retired in 2012 from Crawford Ausable School District custodial service in Grayling after a 20+ year career with Glen’s Markets as a Journeyman meat cutter. He was a 1968 graduate of Alma High School. Interests in the early 70s were stock-car racing on a dirt track in Mt. Peasant, Michigan with his brother Tim, and armchair mechanic father, Barney. Throughout the 80s, Wally loved riding his motorcycle, boating, spending time camping with his family, and coaching his son’s sports in their early years. After retirement Wally enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife Peggy, and their dog, Sammie Sue, a precious companion. Together, they traveled from the Outer Banks in the Carolina’s to Big Sur, California. Spending several winters in Arizona was one of his life’s great rewards. Wally and his wife are members of the United Methodist Church in Grayling, Michigan.
