MACKINAW CITY – September 5, Labor Day, dawned with sunny, blue skies. The Mackinac Bridge Walk started at 7 a.m. Pictured are some of the 26,000 people who walked.

Josh Caverson, Prudenville, Cassi Archer, Traverse City and Merrissa Bourland, Prudenville walked on the grate when the police let them. They all did the double cross – over and back for a total of 10 miles. “It’s definitely an exciting experience! A little scary the first time and you feel a little drunk when you can feel the bridge sway,” they said.
