Dads do the best we can

Happy Father’s Day to everyone who has ever braided their daughter’s hair, coached little league, cooked bad food because it was the only way you knew how, and basically, are/were there for your kids when it was important. Even if you didn’t handle it the right way at the time.

We are all products of our environment and our dad’s generation was not like ours. They didn’t say things like, “I love you” or give you hugs. You would be going down for the third time before they grabbed you by the collar and pulled you up. But you knew how they felt regardless. Even when they got it wrong too.

So grill your ribs. Talk with your kids on the phone or in person. Tell them you love them. Not just today, but every time you talk with them.

And ALWAYS remind them that when they were kids, their meals were top notch, you were always on time, never tried to embarrass them, and with two exceptions, kept every promise you ever made. Because they will remind you of that “one” till the end of time.

Happy Father’s Day!
