HOUGHTON LAKE ON THE ICE – Houghton Lake held its 70thAnnual Tip Up Town event, held on the ice and shores of Houghton Lake. The festival spanned the weekends of Jan. 18-25 and included snowmobile drag races, fishing contest, carnival rides, ice slide, Family Fun Tent, parade and much more. New this year was a “Kid’s Day” sponsored by the Houghton Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber donated 1,800 buttons so every elementary-aged student in the county would be able to attend the festival for free on Sunday, Jan. 19. Chamber Director Jay Jacobs said the event was “Awesome. We had a great turnout and we heard a lot of comments from people who said that if we hadn’t done this it would have been difficult for them to attend.” For information on volunteering for the 2021 Tip Up Town celebration contact Jacobs at 989-366-5644.
