Grayling – Kirtland Community College is pleased to announce the forty-ninth graduating class of its Regional Police Academy. Family, friends and members of the community are invited to join us at the commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. at Kirtland Community College’s Center for Performing Arts Auditorium in Roscommon, with a reception to follow. Roscommon County Sheriff, Kirtland alum and instructor Edward Stern will give the commencement address.

The Kirtland Police Academy graduation signifies cadets’ completion of all requirements approved by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) during the 17-week program. Graduates are then eligible to take the MCOLES examination—on which Kirtland graduates have a 100 percent pass rate — and are considered certifiable for hire after passing the exam. Once hired, they are able to apply for state licensing and a state police officer number.
