We Care / We Feed held its 6th Annual Kids

ST. Helen Wee Care Annual Kids Carnival

By TED CORLEY

RICHFIELD TWP – The local charitable organization We Care / We Feed held its 6th Annual Kids Carnival on Saturday, July 13 in the open space behind the We Care shop, located at 2149 N. St. Helen Road.

The festivities began at 1 p.m., with a parade of children, along with We Care founder John Sutter, leaving from the lot across from the Hen House Restaurant and walking to the carnival location. All children who lined up for the walk received a freeze pop.

The day’s festivities, which were free to children and parents alike, included face painting, a ball pit, a nail painting booth, a special section set aside for smaller children, and a dragon-themed bouncy house, arranged for by local RTDPS (Richfield Twp. Dept. of Public Safety) member and all-around great guy Jason Hertzberg.

Organizer John Sutter says, “In all, about 35 children and their parents attended this year, and everyone had a great time. In addition, We Care will be hosting their 2nd Annual Fall Festival in November, with more of an autumn themed Carnival for the children and their parents, also free to all.”

When ask why he does this every year, Sutter simply replied, “Because I can”.

Attendees Mike and his brother Landon said they had a great time, adding “we really enjoyed ourselves today, it’s been great”, a sentiment echoed by their mother, Brandy.

Sutter says the event is completely hosted by We Care volunteers and their Junior Volunteers, but new volunteers for We Care / We Feed are always welcome.
