Looks like Winter might be for real since we had up to 10 inches of snow across the region. It still doesn’t mean the ice on our inland lakes are safe. Be careful out there.
Please take a moment to review this powerful speech, which has carved for itself a mythic place in the history of our republic.
Despite the fact King gave the speech in 1963, it’s still relevant today, as evidenced by the recent resurgence of bigotry, prejudice and anti-Semitism across the nation. Our cumulative past has had the scab ripped off to reveal the dark and sordid part of our history many hoped we had grown past.
However, with each tearing of this scab from the fabric of our nation, light shines on the wound and it heals a little. Given an opportunity, it can create dialogue and conversation that will enable us to grow and thrive as a nation. Our strength lies in how much more we are together than we are apart.
