HOUGHTON LAKE–Gail Haenlein recently spoke to the Rotary Club of Houghton Lake regarding the Collins Elementary weekend backpack program which is in its sixth year. The program provides a backpack of nutritional nonperishable food on Fridays to students in need from the Food Bank of East Michigan. Currently 72 students are supported.
The Rotary Club of Houghton Lake presented a $1,000 grant to the program which will support 10 students.
