MiREACH Program can pay for job training in a healthcare career

REGION – Those looking for a new career opportunity in healthcare that would lead to full-time employment and benefits are in luck – and Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium’s MiREACH program may be able to help them achieve those goals.

Michigan Rural Enhanced Access to Careers in Healthcare (MiREACH) addresses critical healthcare workforce shortages in Michigan’s rural communities by providing support for the education and training needed to get started in a variety of in-demand healthcare careers.

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, Workforce Development (LEO-WD) was awarded a $2.5 million, four‑year, U.S. Department of Labor H-1B Rural Healthcare Grant to address healthcare staffing shortages in rural communities through the MiREACH project.

Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, covering the eight counties of lower northeast Michigan (Alpena, Alcona, Cheboygan, Crawford, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego, and Presque Isle) is one of only four Michigan Works! agencies across the state to be awarded this subgrant.

The MiREACH program funds on-the-job training, education, and supportive services to overcome barriers to attaining healthcare jobs with strong wages and career pathways. Participant support may include tuition payments, clothing, supplies, mileage reimbursement, and more.

Those interested in career training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), Medical Assistant, Sterile Processing Technician, Phlebotomist, Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselors, Medical Technician, etc., should reach out to Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium for more information on how MiREACH can help them.

MiREACH covers training and education expenses and positions you on the path to an important, good paying career. As a MiREACH participant, you can receive on-the-job training, related classroom instruction, earn a paycheck, and get your foot in the door to a career with great advancement opportunities. Plus, you’ll have the chance to become a local “Healthcare Hero” who can make a meaningful impact in your rural Michigan community.

Michigan’s rural communities need healthcare workers — and MiREACH can connect jobseekers with great training opportunities! Contact Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium to learn more www.miworksne.org or 989.733.8548.
