Trestle Park sets Thursday’ concerts

PRUDENVILLE – Imagine the musical sounds of summer at Trestle Park, as people gather to recapture old memories and create new ones. You feel the excitement build as the park fills with people of all ages, the musicians tune up and do their sound checks, and the scent of popcorn fills the air. Together, we begin the summer concert series, Friends of Trestle Park’ Third Thursday Concerts, and the summer is underway!

June 15, 2017 marks the beginning of the 5th summer season of music at Trestle Park, located on the waterfront at M-18 and M-55 in Prudenville, and the free concert series has continued to grow over time. This year, performers come from our own community and from as far away as Ann Arbor!

The June 15 concert features local favorites Logan Moore and Seth Kilbourn (Logan & Seth) starting at 7 p.m. On July 20 at 7 pm., Chuck Koval returns to the waterfront stage, bringing with him guest vocalist/keyboardist Noel Howland and bassist Joe Balbaugh to bring a new dimension to his popular show.

The August 17 Third Thursday Concert will feature Friends with the Weather. This show will start 15 minutes earlier than the usual 7 pm, due to the earlier sunset, so be ready to enjoy Friends with the Weather at 6:45 pm! This band from Ann Arbor brings the essence of timely new folk, funk, soul, rock, and all manner of world music to the Trestle Park stage. You won’t want to miss this phenomenal performance!

Rainy day concert location for the Third Thursday Concerts is the Denton Township Stone Hall, 2565 S. Gladwin Rd. (M-18).

Additionally, this year the Friends of Trestle Park group is partnering with the Houghton Lake Public Library to bring a bonus performance to Trestle Park ‘ ‘Drummunity! with Lori Fithian’ On July 27, at 7 p.m., Lori will bring her hand drumming community drumming circle to the waterfront for a special, interactive concert for all ages. This performance is presented with support from the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Michigan Humanities Council. The Rainy Day location for this performance is the Houghton Lake Public Library

Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music!
