Artisan Village brings culture to Grayling

GRAYLING – The Grayling Chamber Ambassador’ Club announced that AuSable Artisan Village (AAV) is its ‘Spotlight-a-Member.’

AuSable Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue in Grayling. Managed by Terry Dickinson, AAV has no paid staff and has 30 active volunteers.

According to a historical note submitted by AAV:

In the fall of 2010 a few committed community members organized Artisan Village as a non-profit corporation to stimulate the arts and cultural experience in the Grayling region. By the spring of 2011 a group of volunteers turned a 5,000 square foot vacant building in the heart of downtown Grayling, previously known as the Ben Franklin, into an art center and gallery.

Since that time Artisan Village has steadily grown and now is showcasing the works of over 60 local and regional artists. The gallery also offers community concerts, summer enrichment programs and other art classes for children.

In addition, the popular ‘Art Uncorked’ series offer adult opportunities to create art projects in a casual atmosphere.

In 2015 AAV purchased the building.

Dickinson said in a release that, ‘Artisan Village has been the inspiration and driving force for economic vitalization and was the lead organization in being accepted as a Main Street community.’

AAV is located at 219 Michigan Avenue in Grayling. For more information call 989-619-5561, email info@aavart.org or visit aavart.org.
