Music Festival at Trestle Park

By Theresa Ekdom

PRUDENVILLE – An all-day music festival makes its way to Trestle Park Sept. 10. Join in the fun at the free, first annual East Bay Music Fest, listen to local, live music, and visit the vendors at the Vendor Village on site.

‘We started off the season with the Blue Water Trail Launch Party and wanted to bookend it with another event,’ Mary Michela, events coordinator for Friends of Trestle Park said.

The music starts at 1 p.m. with A Brighter Bloom, a young band from Grayling. At 2:15 p.m. local favorite, Amanda Kari takes the stage. Calamity Jane who has played at Trestle Park many times returns at 3:30 p.m. Logan & Seth (Logan Moore and Seth Kilbourn), local favorites as well, start playing at 4:45 p.m. The headliner event, Seth Bernard & Dan Rickabus, play from 6 – 8 p.m. (All times approximate.)

While listening to the music, be sure to visit the Vendor Village. There will be arts, crafts, and direct sales businesses set up. You will find jewelry, drums, massages, artwork, essential oils and the like displayed for sale. The Roscommon Historical Train Club will even have their long train on display.

Bring your lawn chair and stay all day. Food will be available on-site with Mike and Rhea Rasdale’ food truck as well as the Yum Yum Ice cream truck.

‘We’re hoping for sunny weather,’ Michela said.

In case of inclement weather, the music will be moved to the Stone Hall, just south of the intersection of M-18 and M-55.

This is the first of what the Friends of Trestle Park hope to be a long lasting event.

‘We know we have wonderful music coming,’ Michela said. ‘We expect (the music fest) to get bigger and better.’

The East Bay Music Fest is underwritten in part by the Houghton Lake Library and by grants from the Roscommon County Community Foundation – The Morley Foundation Fund, The Rogers Family Foundation for Houghton Lake, and the Roscommon County Lakes and Rivers Fund. Also sponsoring are the many Business sponsors and community donors.
