GLADWIN COUNTY – United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties is proud to announce that Jane Zdrojewski has been named to their board.
United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties Executive Director Jennifer Long said she is pleased to have Jane join the board.
“Jane’s background in marketing at Dow Chemical, her recent completion of the Gladwin Leadership program, and her strong desire to give back to our communities make her an excellent addition to our board of directors,’ said Long. ‘We are delighted to have her join us!”
Jane was born and raised in Beaverton and currently resides in Gladwin County with her husband and 3 children, Jessica, Jeremy, and Benjamin). She is a 2016 graduate of the Gladwin County Leadership Program and has been involved in volunteer opportunities for the New Dawn Shelter, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and United Way, as well as serving on the Pastoral Council for St. Anne Catholic Church and the Parish Implementation Team for the Future Full of Hope merger activities for Our Lady of Grace. She works in Marketing for Dow Chemical, based in Midland.
UW: What made you want to become more involved with United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties?
JZ: As part of the Gladwin County leadership class, I was provided insights into the community, its history, its current needs, and its potential for the future. To learn more, I volunteered to sit on the Citizen Review Panel for United Way fund allocations both in 2016 and 2017. It was eye-opening to hear the individual organizations’ stories and what their requirements were. There is a much larger need than actual funds to support them. After this year’ review process, it was clear to me that I wanted to be a part of the United Way to assist those leading this great program that uses the power of one to benefit our community.
UW: How do you feel United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties makes a difference in our communities?
JZ: United Way works for the communities in a way that I don’t see any other non-profit organization doing. They can coordinate needs with resources across a broad breadth of influences and bring credibility to the efforts as well. Many organizations are recognized by the general public by their name alone, but many are not, and we support those that are well-known as well as lesser-known agencies. I’ve always felt good about the fact that my contribution was being managed for the good of all where it is most needed to make a positive impact.
UW: What would you say to someone who was undecided about giving to United Way of Clare and Gladwin Counties?
JZ: Think about the breadth of United Way – they are the only nonprofit organization that supports 25 local agencies and more than 35 programs continuously. These agencies and programs have been vetted by United Way, so there’ no guessing that your dollars will be well spent. It’ also is a great feeling to know that you are supporting an organization that serves residents roughly 20,000 times per year. (That equates to 55 times per day!) United Way has a 25-year track record for a reason, and by trusting them with your charitable giving, you can rest assured the funds will be in good hands.
