Ken’ to help Zoo, shelter during the holidays

ROSCOMMON – Ken’ Tire & Auto of Roscommon is helping the Roscommon Zoo keep its animals fed this winter. During the holiday season, anyone wanting to help can drop off items such as granola barscereal, canned tuna, rabbit food, canned fruit, dry cat and dog food, etc., at the shop Dec. 3-31.

Norma Watters said this is the second-year Ken’s Auto & Tires will help the Zoo.

‘I love helping animals, it’ a huge passion of mine,’ Watters said.

Waters said the couple began to help the Roscommon County Animal Shelter seven years ago. And the zoo seemed like a great way to compliment those efforts.

Two years ago, they began helping the Roscommon Zoo, then Watter’ gave her project to their son, Jesse, and his wife, Marilynn.

This is still a family project.

‘This is something we do as a family,’ Norma said.

Marilyn has always had a soft spot for animals.

‘I’ve always been a huge advocate in doing whats best for animals, when I heard about helping the zoo,’ she said. ‘I was excited because it’ something I’ve always wanted to do. One of my favorite childhood memories was attending the zoo. The zoo is an experience I want for my children and other children,’ Marilynn said.
