ROSCOMMON – The 8th annual Empty Bowls for River House was a little different this year. Still held in conjunction with Kirtland Community College’ art department, it was moved to Fred’ of Roscommon.
‘This year one of our Board members secured Fred’ as the venue for the event and their part in this was absolutely beautiful,’ Carla Ott, River House’ development director said.
After making their donation, attendees chose an empty bowl made by local artists. Fred’ provided three types of soup, their Hungarian mushroom, chicken dumpling, and potato leek soup; along with chili and rolls. Cookies rounded off the dinner.
KCC’ art department provided prints and pottery for the silent auction.
‘Thanks absolutely should go to the owners and staff of Fred’, Scott (Rice) and Kirtland’ art department, our Board members and River House staff that helped as well. The event couldn’t have gone as smoothly without them.’ Ott said.
The event brought in about double the donations that they had in the last two years according to Ott.
‘Between the amazing soup, the incredible silent auction items and the atmosphere, we’re already looking forward to next year!’
