Eleanor Josephine Fairchild of Houghton Lake

Eleanor Josephine Fairchild, 90, of Houghton Lake passed away December 26, 2016 at The Lighthouse of Roscommon.

She was born on August 25, 1926 in Detroit to Anthony and Pauline (Tomaszewski) Borczyk, and was married on November 29, 1958 there to Richard G. Fairchild. The couple moved from Novi to Houghton Lake in 1988. She was employed as a cook-waitress for several restaurants.

Mrs. Fairchild was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and Houghton Lake VFW Post 4034 Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and loved her pets.

Surviving are her brother, Richard Borczyk of Prudenville; two sisters, Lorraine McDonald of FL, and Delphine Zalewski of Westland; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard G. Fairchild; sister, Helen Tomasek; and brother, John Borczyk.

Visitation is January 6, 2016 from 3-7 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton lake Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12 p.m. January 7 from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Larry Sergott officiating.

Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery, Prudenville.

Memorial contributions in memory of Eleanor are asked to be directed to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church or the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.
