Arnold Dean Carpenter of Houghton Lake

Arnold Dean Carpenter, 56, of Houghton Lake passed away November 16, 2016 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City.

He was born on September 5, 1960 in Cadillac to Zale and LuluBell (Billett) Carpenter. He attended McBain Public Schools, graduating in 1978.

Mr. Carpenter was employed as a rig hand in the oil fields for several years. On September 14, 1985 in Houghton Lake Arnie was married to Cheri K. Sherman. He enjoyed going to Merritt Speedway. Along with being an avid deer hunter, Arnie, loved working in the woods and doing woodworking.

Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Cheri K Carpenter of Houghton Lake; four sons, Vincent (Evelyn) Carpenter of Merritt, Samuel (Kelly) Carpenter of Houghton Lake, Steven Carpenter of Houghton Lake, and Cody (Cheyenne) Carpenter of Houghton Lake; and four grandchildren, Victor, Chloe, Carson, and Keegan.

Also surviving are his parents, Zale and LuluBell Carpenter of Falmouth; two brothers, Randy (Dar) Carpenter of Harrison, and Bruce Carpenter of Falmouth; sister, Danita (Chuck) Carpenter of Falmouth; mother-in-law, Nancy (Mill) Sehy of Houghton Lake and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation is November 21 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel. Graveside services for Arnold Dean Carpenter will be conducted at 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at Lake Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake with Pastor Stephen Milam officiating.

Memorial contributions in memory of Arnie are asked to be directed to the family.
