HOUGHTON LAKE–Houghton Lake High School is hosting its 23rd annual Veteran’ Day Assembly on Nov. 11. A reception hosted by the Class of 2017 for area Veterans will be hosted beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the High School cafeteria with a breakfast buffet being offered to veterans by Chartwells Food Service.
At 9 a.m. second grade students from Collins Elementary will sing patriotic songs to the honored guests and Veterans, followed by a candlelight processional into the auditorium led by the VFW Honor Guard at 9:15 a.m.
The Veteran’ Day Program will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will conclude with a 21- gun salute by an Honor Detail from the Michigan State Police and the playing of Taps.
If any Houghton Lake High School graduate has a military picture that they would like included on the Veteran’ Board displayed at the high school, it should be dropped off to the high school office by Nov. 4.
As always, Veterans are invited to participate in this important tradition for the community.
