Delores Ilene “Dea” Goddard, 84, of Houghton Lake passed October 11, 2016 at Munson HealthCare Grayling Hospital.
Delores was born on November 19, 1931 in Ypsilanti to Walter and Anna (Thorn) Beebe. She grew up in the Ypsilanti area graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1949.. On May 7, 1952 in Ypsilanti Delores was married to Donald E. Goddard. She was employed as a secretary by a doctor’ office in Milan The Goddards moved to the Houghton Lake area from Milan in 1987.
Mrs. Goddard loved cake decorating and was expert at it. She decorated cakes for many years for her aunt’s bakery in Ypsilanti and at the Carter’s Grocery store in Houghton Lake. She was a member of Houghton Lake Baptist Church, where she has served as church secretary for the past many years.
Surviving are her two daughters, Beverly (Bob) Dear of Port Sanilac, and Dona (Brian) Regan of Clinton, MI; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two “Little Brothers”, Harlous (Joyce) Wilson of FL, and Merlyn (Geraldine) Wilson of FL
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald E Goddard; and brother, Robert Beebe.
Visitation is at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel Oct. 14 from 4-7 pm.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Houghton Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Milam officiating Oct. 15 at 10 am.
Interment will be in Alban Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
Memorial contributions in memory of Delores are asked to be directed to Houghton Lake Baptist Church.
