AuSable River Outfitters opens in downtown Mio

By Elana Warsen

MIO – A new sporting goods store has opened in downtown Mio. AuSable River Outfitters (ARO) opened its doors on August 5, offering inventory ranging from hunting and fishing equipment to kayaks and children’ toys.

‘We have everything but guns,’ said Owner Becky Schilling, noting that the store is still acquiring new merchandise.

While the store is currently open to the public, a grand opening celebration is planned for April 2017.

Becky and her husband, Ray, make up one half of the store’ ownership. Another husband-and-wife duo, Brian and Tammy Sukarukoff, are also owners. Residents of Mio, the Schillings and Sukarukoffs say they are proud to bring a new business to their hometown.

‘We hope that by opening a store here other business owners will see it and also want to take a chance on [downtown Mio],’ Brian said.

AuSable River Outfitters is located at 207 S. Morenci Ave. in Mio. The store is open seven days a week. For more information, find them on Facebook or call 989-826-6900.
