Firecracker 1-mile Fun Run blasts through Grayling

By Dawn Mercer

GRAYLING – The 4th Annual Firecracker race blasted it’ way down Lake St. in Grayling July 4.

The Firecracker 1 mile Fun Run happens prior the the Grayling Fourth of July parade. Unlike your normal race, this one is just for the kids. Children ages 5 and up, take part in the Firecracker Run.

Hanson Hills Recreation area sponsors the event as a club fundraiser for their Cross Country Club. However, even though these kids run down the street and back, doesn’t mean it’ all fun and games. The Mighty Milers, as they are known, train for four weeks prior to the run just to get ready. In the end, everyone that ran gets a red, white, and blue ribbon.
