Fellowship Cafe gets a facelift

By Dawn Mercier

FREDERIC – Anyone who has traveled Old US 27 North to Gaylord has driven right by it, but chances are it wasn’t even noticed. These ladies and the owners of the caf+¬ are hoping to change that. The Fellowship Cafe has been given a facelift.

The changes started with group of women who are are part of the De Colores Christian organization have planted flowers around the caf+¬. A new sign has also been installed, in hopes of helping the cafe, organized to help the needy, to become more noticeable on the highway.

The caf+¬ was the brain child of Kevin and Linda Thompson. Kevin who left his full-time career to pursue creating the caf+¬. The restaurant was created to help people who find themselves with little to no money to be able to afford a warm meal, or some nice clothes.

The Fellowship caf+¬ is also home to Mary’ Ministry, which offers gently used and new clothing to those in need, free of charge. After all, isn’t everyone entitled to a good meal and good clothes even if they are down on their luck?

The atmosphere of the caf+¬ is warm and friendly, and just what you would expect from small town hospitality and cooking.

The couple said the menu has no prices, the food is served fresh from the kitchen, and customers pay what they think their experience is worth. For those that must have their electronic devices, the Fellowship caf+¬ even offers free Wi-Fi for your use. It looks like a simple home on the outside, but on the inside there is a wonderful environment that everyone should take in and enjoy.

The ladies of De Colores are hoping to purchase a six foot tall pinwheel to place outside of the caf+¬, so that it may draw more attention for a worthy cause. Everyone is welcome at the Fellowship Caf+¬, there is no discrimination, just a lovely restaurant environment with great food and a hope to help as many people as possible feel welcome and worthwhile.
