Gazebo Concert series begins again

steel-drum-4-w steel-drum-3-w steel-drum-2-w ROSCOMMON – The yearly Gazebo Concert series in Roscommon has begun. Starting out the 2016 summer concerts was once again the Roscommon Steel Drum bands.

The concerts were held in the CRAF Center gym to a full house. The Panhandlers, the adult band, started the evening out playing typical steel drum music. The student band, Steel Syndicate, took over afterwards. Those unfamiliar with Steel Syndicate might have been surprised to hear music from Rush, David Bowie, and the Beetles. Their music had kids and adults alike dancing in the aisles!

The Summer Gazebo Concert continues on June 22.

The concert is a tribute band of Peter, Paul and Mary Remembered. PPMR shows have attracted crowds of both young and old. The group has transcribed each Peter, Paul & Mary arrangement in order to duplicate the exact sound that captured the hearts of listeners worldwide.

As one fan put it, ‘If I close my eyes, I am transported back to 1966 and I can picture exactly where I was when I wore the grooves off my Peter, Paul & Mary albums.’

Concerts start at 7 p.m. on the CRAF Center lawn. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved into the gym. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music!
