GRAYLING — In a non-conference doubleheader against Roscommon on Tuesday, April 26, the Grayling girls softball team swept the Bucks, 5-1 and 14-6 to improve its record to 7-5 on the season.
Emma Prosser was the leading hitter for the Vikings in game one, going 3-for-3 with a run batted in and scored a run. Erin Prosser finished 2-for-3 with a run batted in, stole a base and drove in a run. Mallory Hatfield went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Kyla Roach was 1-for-2, had a walk and a stolen base and scored a run. Sabrina Junttila, Olivia Schreiber and Jenna Shelp were all 1-for-3.
Junttila pitched all seven innings for the win. She gave up seven hits, had six strike outs and no walks.
In game two, Hailey Pratt was the leading hitter going 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and scored a run. Emma Prosser also was 3-for-4 with a walk, one run batted in, had one stolen base and scored three runs.
Baylee Baker was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored a run. Hatfield also was 2-for-3 with two walks, drove in two runs and scored a run. Erin Prosser was 2-for-5, stolen a base and scored two runs. Hatfield pitched four innings to get the win, giving up 12 hits while striking out two and walking two. Erin Prosser gave up two hits, struck out one and walked a pair in three innings of relief.
Grayling’s girls softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to Ogemaw Heights on Monday, April 24. The Vikings lost the first game, 16-3 and dropped the nightcap, 15-5.
Emma Prosser led the Vikings in hitting in the opener, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Kyla Roach was 1-for-3 and had a stolen base. Sabrina Junttila went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Mallory Hatfield finished 1-for-3. Olivia Schreiber was 1-for-1. Erin Prosser had a 3-run home run in three at-bats. Junttila pitched all five innings and took the loss, giving up 15 hits, striking out two and walking a pair of batters.
In game two, Schreiber was 1-for-2 and scored a run. Erin Prosser went 1-for-3 with one run batted in and scored once. Junttila finished 1-for-3 and scored a run. Kyla Roach was 1-for-3 and scored a run. Emma Prosser hit a grand slam home run. Hatfield got the loss, giving 17 hits, striking out one and walk two in five innings.
The Vikings hosted East Jordan in a Lake Michigan Conference doubleheader on Monday, April 17 and came away with a split, winning the opener in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the sixth inning, 7-6.
Leading hitters in the first game were Sabrina Junttila who was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in, score one run and had one stolen base. Emma Prosser was 1-for-3 and scored twice. Baylee Baker was 1-for-3 and scored once. Erin Prosser finished 1-for-4, the game-winning hit, and drove in a run. Junttila pitched all six innings to pick up the win. She struck out one and struck out six.
East Jordan won the nightcap, 14-7. Erin Prosser was the leading hitter for the Vikings, going 2-for-3, walked once and scored two runs. Rebecca Latusek also was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run batted in.
Mallory Hatfield was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and scored two runs. Emma Prosser had a home run in two trips to the plate, walked once and also scored a pair of runs. Carlie Wilson went 1-for-1. Hatfield pitched three innings and took the loss, striking out four and walking three. Erin Prosser struck out one and walked five in three innings worked.
