‘Run Like Hale’ on tap

HALE – The 4th Annual Run Like Hale 10K is returning to Hale this summer.

The event is scheduled for July 30 at starting at 8 a.m. The 6.2 mile race course goes around beautiful Long Lake along Kokosing, Long Lake, and Lakeside Roads.

All proceeds from the race are donated to the Michigan branch of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Over the past three years, the race has generated nearly $10,000 in donations to help support research towards treatment and a cure for blood cancers. Approximately 200 runners and walkers have participated each year.

Those interested should go to runlikehale.com to sign up online. There is also a link for those who would rather print out a form and mail in a check. However, all applications must be received by July 4 in order to guarantee a race shirt.

The race is currently seeking business sponsors to help cover some of the administrative expenses, such as advertising, mailing, and refreshments for all of the participants when they have crossed the finish line.

Business owners can go to runlikehale.com/sponsor-the-race to select a Sponsorship Level’ilver ($75 flat rate), or Gold (where the owner can select a specific expense to cover). All sponsors will be acknowledged and thanked via the race website, Facebook page, and on the back of the race shirt.

Gold level sponsors will also have large signs bearing their name and thanking them for covering an additional expense.

In addition to business sponsors, there is a ‘Friends of the Race’ fund for those who want to donate but are unable to walk or run in the event. For a minimum $35 donation, all ‘Friends’ will be thanked on the website and in the Thank-You ad after the race.
