Duane Lee ‘Fuzzy’ Nieman

Duane Lee ‘Fuzzy’ Nieman, 63, of Houghton Lake Heights passed away on Monday September 3, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side.

Duane was born on February 12, 1955 in Adrian, Michigan to Russell and Barbara (Gaige) Nieman. Duane grew up in Blissfield and graduated from Blissfield High School. He moved with his family to the Houghton Lake area in 1974. On June 11, 1972 in Houghton Lake, Duane was married to Donna Marie Roback. Duane had worked at Teh Donut Hole in Roscommon and Charlie Brown’s in Houghton lake as a donut maker. He later worked constructing boat lifts and docks at NuCraft in Roscommon. Duane was a member of the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool. He always loved helping others. His special love was spending time with family, especially his grandson.

Surviving Mr. Nieman are his loving wife of 46 years, Donna Marie Nieman of Houghton Lake Heights; three daughters, Roselyn (Jason) Nenham of La Porte,TX, Rita Nieman of Houghton Lake, and Rhonda (Dan) Pomeroy of Grawn; grandson, Charles Denham of La Porte, TX; mother, Barbara J. Nieman of Houghton Lake Heights; three brothers, Tom (Peggy) Nieman of Blissfield, Marty (Pat) Nieman of Evart, and Albert Nieman of Blissfield; many nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his father, Russell J. Nieman and sister in law, Karilyn Nieman.

Funeral Services for Duane Lee Nieman will be conducted at 11:00am Friday September 7, 2018 from Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. George Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday September 6, 2018 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel. Memorial contributions in memory of Duane are asked to be directed to the Munson Hospitality House. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
