Michael Frances Earley

Michael Frances Earley, age 70, of Houghton Lake passed away Tuesday July 17, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born on June 22, 1948 in Saginaw, Michigan to Warren and Francis (Straebel) Earley. He graduated from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 1967 and later obtained an Associates Degree from Kirtland Community College.

Michael served in the Army during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in battle.

He married Kathy D. Clymer on February 20, 1987 in Houghton Lake. He retired from General Motors where he worked as a Core Maker at the Iron Foundry. Michael also owned and operated Earley Non Secured Detention Home and as Event Security for Event Services Incorporated. He was a longtime member of Houghton Lake Sportsman Club.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kathy Earley of Houghton Lake, sons; Simon Earley of Grand Rapids, Eric (Sheryl) Earley of Kalamazoo, Noah (Jennifer) Earley of Wheeler and Richard Varco of Owosso, daughter; Tera (Isaac) Ragan of Houghton Lake, three brothers; Stephen Earley of Higgins Lake, John (Lisa) Earley of Houghton Lake and Tom (Laurie) Earley of Texas, six sisters; Martha (Howard) Norris of Prudenville, Beth Earley of Houghton Lake, Patti (Rich) Dietrich of Arizona, Cathy Nellist of Roscommon, Judy (Dennis) Long of Grayling and Anne Bawek of Houghton Lake, sixteen grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his special pets, Sassy Girl, and Little Guy.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Timothy Earley, sister; Mary Ellen Morris, granddaughter; Brandi Varco and daughter-in-law; Peggy Varco.

Funeral Services for Michael Frances Earley were Saturday July 21, 2018 from Houghton Lake Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Milam officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Michael are asked to be directed to the family.
