Roena Burdetta Bair

Roena Burdetta Bair, 82, of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday March 31, 2018 with her loving family by her side at the home of her daughter in Swartz Creek.

Roena was born on November 24, 1935 in Missaukee County to Benjamin and Irene (Whipple) Snyder. Roena grew up in the Merritt and Houghton Lake area and graduated from Houghton Lake Schools.

On March 19, 1955 in Houghton Lake, Roena was married to LeRoy Bair. The couple moved to Mt. Morris where they farmed and LeRoy worked for General Motors. After Leroy’s retirement from General Motors the couple returned to Houghton Lake where they had always maintained a second home.

Roena worked in area restaurants and was a homemaker and mother of four children. She was also the full time farm hand and loved canning and raising the food for the family. Roena enjoyed sewing and made most of the children’s clothing as they grew up. Everyone that knew Roena knows of her gentle way and kind heart and soul. She always helped out friends and neighbors who needed extra food, or help of any kind. Roena was a member of Houghton Lake Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Bair are her loving husband of 63 years, LeRoy Bair of Houghton Lake; daughter, Sherry Wilson of Swartz Creek; three sons, Bruce (Gail) Bair of Lennon, Alan (Kelly) Bair of Tennessee, and Dale Bair of Tennessee; two sisters, Wava Hamel of Lake City, and Sharon Dewitt of Kansas City, MO.; brother, Arnold (Diane) Snyder of Houghton Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

Roena was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Danny Wilson; four sisters, Arthel, Wilma, Sandy, and Merita; and brother, Wilfred.

Funeral Services for Roena Burdetta Bair will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday April 7, 2018 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Pastor Stephen Milam officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday April 6, 2018 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.

Memorial contributions in memory of Roena are asked to be directed to Heartland Hospice.
