Lauren David Mead

Lauren David Mead, 77, of Roscommon passed away April 4, 2018 at home.

Lauren was born in Roscommon Aug. 4, 1940 to Carlton Russell and Katherine Gertrude (Palmer) Mead. He was a lifetime Roscommon resident.

Lauren married Susan E. (Hughes) June 6, 1964 in Lansing. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 1999. He married Rita J. (Gillman) Langenburg Nov. 8, 2014 in Roscommon.

Lauren was a clerk at A & P in Roscommon for 18 years, with his wife, Sue, operated Sports Galore in Roscommon for seven years and they operated the South Higgins Lake Park Store from 1975 to 1996.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Roscommon.

Lauren was a member of the Higgins Lake Roscommon Lions Club, Houghton Lake Eagles, Grayling Moose and the Roscommon K of C Prince of Peace Council 6593. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and relaxing with his honey bees.

Surviving are his wife, Rita of Roscommon; two children, Mike Mead of Prudenville and Julie (Ed) Brigham of Raleigh, NC; two step-children, Rita (Tom) Hardecki of Brownstown and Randy (Sherri) Wilhite of Jackson; six grandchildren, Lauren Denae, Lucas and Logan Mead, Michael and Matthew Brigham, and Steven Martin; brother, Larry (Ann) Mead of Roscommon; brother-in-law, Cliff Wood of Roscommon; and sister-in-law, Joanne Mead of Roscommon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan; sister, Connie Wood and brother, Carlton Mead.

Funeral services were held at St Michael Catholic Church, Roscommon on April 7, 2018 with Rev. Father Richard Schaeffer officiating.

Burial was at Roscommon Village Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or K of C Prince of Peace Council 6593, both of Roscommon.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon served the family.
