Donald David Palm, 80, of Prudenville, died September 24, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family
He was born September 20, 1937 in Detroit to George William Palm, MD and Marcella Theresa (Vogler) Palm. He married Sandra Jean Horton on October 15, 1960 in Prudenville. They lived in Clare from 1960 to 1964 and then moved to Prudenville.
Mr. Palm retired as a Highway Inspector from the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1997 after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Denton Township Police and Denton Township Fire Departments for 19 years, retiring in 1986, retiring as the Fire Chief.
He was a member of the Prudenville Knights of Columbus Council 6548 and Our Lady of the Lakes and St. Hubert Catholic Churches. He enjoyed deer hunting, casino trips, snow plowing, golf and travel.
Surviving are four children, Sherry (Ken) Blaisus of Prudenville, Michael (Carol) Palm of Portland, Wendy Palm of Bloomington, MN and Bill (Deb) Palm of Lakeville, MN; 10 grandchildren, Gina (David) Hall of Fremont, Leigha Palm and fiancé, Scott Lang of Grand Rapids, Stephanie (Jeff) Whaley of Loxley, AL, Billy (Izzie) Palm of Rosemont, MN, Jim (Mimi) Palm of Kissimmee, FL, Sarah (Bobby) Brown of Blountville, TN, Kandice Hawthorne and fiancé, Matt Willey of Roscommon, Justin, Samantha and Vanessa Hawthorne all of Houghton Lake; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother Chuck (Margie) Palm of Prudenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra Jean Palm on October 2, 2013; daughter, Toni Hawthorne; sister, Margaret Wangler and three brothers, George, Fred and Robert Palm.
The family will receive friends at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 7612 W. Higgins Lake Drive, Roscommon, on Thursday, September 28 at 10 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11 AM officiated by Fr. Bernard Tyler.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Prudenville Knights of Columbus Council 6548 or St. Hubert Catholic Church.
Arrangements are by Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon.
