Gaylord Community Productions increases shows, opens Box Office

GAYLORD – Gaylord Community Productions, Inc. (GCP) announces the opening of a permanent, traditional ticket “Box Office.”President of the GCP, Sarah Peterson has negotiated a portion of the space in “Seams Like New”boutique downtown Gaylord as GCP’s permanent ticket box office. “Over the years GCP sold tickets using an assortment of methods”, said Peterson. “We relied heavily on friends of GCP to handle the sales. That is, businesses, word of mouth, at the door the day of the event, and cast members.”The group has expanded their variety of shows to over ten for 2018.

When the Gaylord Information Center sold tickets for GCP the sales were so heavy that the staff was overwhelmed with the work load. The ten events that are planned also increases the number of tickets to handle. “We had to find a permanent answer,” said Peterson. In 2017 the group attempted to use tickets sales by the internet. “Sales Online” was announced early in the year for the musical “Guys & Dolls”. “It was about a 50-50 new experience for success,” said board member, Al Glasby. “Some people found the process hi-tech and could master it, but others found they had to have someone help them.

Quite a bit of frustration,” he said. The ticket “box office” will not only be for sales of the traditional August musical (“Big Fish”), but all event tickets will be handled by the staff of “Seams Like New”. The Box Office, at 130 W. Main St., downtown Gaylord, is fully staffed with friendly people to accommodate your purchase, complete with credit card service. The first 50 customers purchasing at least two full price tickets for the August show “Big Fish” will receive a $5.00 gift certificate to “Seams Like New” boutique. GCP has proven their influence on the community by successfully presenting a huge variety of performing arts events for 23 years.

It was in 1995 that GCP initiated the new Alan L. Gornick auditorium by being the first to present a major Broadway show (“The Music Man.”)
The auditorium is named in honor of Keith Gornick’s father. The Gornick Foundation believes in the Performing Arts and is a significant influence on GCP. Don’t miss any of the GCP events for 2018. For more information, email info@gaylordcommunityproductions.com or follow GCP on Facebook.
