Houghton Lake Rotary Supports Adult Ed

Houghton Lake Community Education Principal Heidi Palatka recently spoke to the Rotary Club of Houghton Lake about the Houghton Lake Adult Education program. Adult education offers individuals 20 and older a chance to earn a GED and provide ABE (adult basic education) classes for individuals that are not quite ready to take their GED tests without some math and writing practice and review.

Classes are offered four nights a week and free transportation and childcare (two nights a week) is offered to the students. For additional information contact Houghton Lake Community Education at 422-6161. A field trip to Mackinac Island is planned with 27 Adult Education students. Rotary President Denise Stefanko presented Heidi a grant for $500 to be used for the field trip.
