Oscoda County Senior News May 2018

By Merianne Tappan

MIO – Boy do I feel bad for all our seniors who came back from Florida! It seems that winter hit late this year! What a cruel surprise!

Here’ what’ going on in May:

Friday May 11 the center will have a Jewelry class at 1 p.m. The cost is $30 to pay for supplies, but you can make a nice bracelet for Mom on Mother’ Day! Afternoon tea will follow at 3 p.m. with tea and snacks.

Monday May 14 is the monthly Board meeting held at the Center at 9. It is open to the public.

Tuesday May 15 is the monthly CSFP (senior cheese) box drop from 10-11 a.m., and the TEFAP quarterly food drop from 8-11 a.m.

Friday May 18 we will host a ‘Matter of Balance’ class here at the Center. It starts after lunch at 12:45. If we get enough interest we will continue to have this class.

Thursday May 24 is the food drop at the fairgrounds. And Monday May 28 the Center will be closed to celebrate Memorial Day.

Every Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the center we will offer a Senior Tai Chi class. For more information please contact Rich Lloyd 989-826-3025.

We will be handing out Project FRESH coupons during TEFAP distribution Tuesday May 15. For those of you who do not know what project FRESH coupons are, they are free coupons for Seniors 60 and older to use to purchase fresh produce at the local farmers market. Each booklet contains 10 – $2 coupons (totaling $20). The coupons MUST be used at farmers markets, not grocery stores, but they can be used anywhere in Michigan.

They are good until October 2018.
