Breaking news: Water main break closes Roscommon street

ROSCOMMON – A water main break has caused officials to close down Fifth Street East of M-18.

The main broke earlier this morning near the front of Hull Lumber sent water careening down Fifth Street, back toward Tim’s Collision.

The DPW team from the village, Roscommon County Road Commission, and utility companies we’re at the scene working on the break. Asphalt was cut out of the roadway, and a pit dug about five feet to the break. Crews were in the process of splicing the line back together about 10 a.m.

Conditions for the workers in the pit were difficult due to the weather and cold water.
