The Tide Rolls in

ROSCOMMON COUNTY – For the third time in four years the Crimson Tide rolled into Michigan with some incredible results. Not the Football team, but The Chilton Baptist Builders from Chilton County Alabama.

‘It’ true,’ Roscommon Baptist Church Member Dr. Mike Ritchie said. ‘They are huge Crimson Tide fans. They are always asking if we have college football in the state of Michigan. But they are really fanatics about helping God’ Kingdom to Grow.’

Paying their own food, lodging, travel expenses and driving over 1800 miles round trip, since 1983 the grouped has helped build 30 churches from Wyoming to South Carolina.

Three years ago, ninety-one people came to Roscommon and in five days had the whole church framed, windows, rough electrical and half the shingles installed. In 2017 they helped Calvary Church in Southgate convert a closed elementary building into a church.

This year when a church in South Carolina canceled their project they traveled back to Roscommon to help Bambi Lake Baptist Conference Center build four camping cabins, remodel a house on the lake and prepare the bath house for a total remodel. Some of their team spent a day tiling a bathroom at the Lion’ Den in Roscommon and building shelves at Roscommon Baptist for the Roscommon Foster Clothing closet.
