Progress on banquet hall proceeds

Walls are going up on the Northern Michigan Banquet and Event Center. G.M. Mark Vick hopes it will be completed in three to six months.

HOUGHTON LAKE – Construction on the Northern Michigan Banquet and Event Center continues after breaking ground in 2017. General Manager Mark Vick is pleased with the progress, and hopes to have the facility open in three to six months.

“My dad (Mark E. Vick) and I had been talking about this for about three to five years,” Vick said. “He saw a need for a banquet facility hall. I have a background in coaching basketball. We merged the ideas into a multipurpose facility that will accommodate events of any kind.”

The building is 19,200 square feet. There will be a gymnasium with a full size basketball court. The other 8,000 square feet will be banquet space which can be divided if needed. The facility will include a full kitchen.
