Meet author Shenandoah Chefalo at RADL

ROSCOMMON – The Roscommon Area District Library (RADL) is hosting Shenandoah Chefalo, author of “Garbage Bag Suitcase: a Memoir” Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 4:30 at the library in Roscommon.

Her true story tells of Chefalo’s wholly dysfunctional journey through a childhood with neglectful, drug-and alcohol addicted parents. When, at age 13, Shen has had enough, she asks to be put in foster care. Unfortunately, this road also is filled with neglect and adversity. Still, Shen eventually becomes part of the 3% of foster care children to get into college and the 1% who actually graduates. Despite numerous life achievements as an adult, the effects of neglect and abuse in her childhood continue to bring on lifelong battles.

RADL is excited to host Chefalo, whose story not only inspires and breaks your heart but also offers keen insight on steps in repairing a broken foster care system.
