OTSEGO COUNTY – Citizens of Otsego County went to the polls Nov. 7 and made their voices heard, voting 1,709-1,296 to support an EMS millage.
“For me, this wasn’t a proposal about money, it was a proposal designed to keep the current infrastructure of the Otsego County EMS running, and improve it thereby improving the health and safety of its citizens, that’s why I was voting Yes,” said Raenelle Ealy.
Not all of Gaylord’s residents felt the same way though, Otsego County resident James Yeoman said, “Personally, I didn’t like the way the ballot was worded, I felt that they could have done a better job explaining it.”
The Otsego County EMS made 4052 runs in 2016 and is on pace for that number to increase for the 2017 year as well.
The Otsego County EMS provides service to Wings Over Northern Michigan, AlpenFest, Big Ticket, as well as being stationed at high school events.
