Roscommon and Crawford counties represented at Older Michiganians Day

Roscommon County Commission on Aging Director Tom Pettit and Chairman Chuck Corwin were among those representing Roscommon County and Region 9 Area Agency on Aging at Older Michiganians Day in Lansing May 17 where hundreds of Michiganians gathered on the front lawn of the State Capitol to advocate with legislators on several current issues.

Jennifer Bricker, Advocacy & Resource Coordinator for the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center, along with several others represented Crawford County.

The group met with legislators from Northern Michigan to encourage support for “senior services.”

Working in conjunction with the Region 9 Area Agency on Aging, meetings were held with Representative Daire Rendon and Senator Darwin Booher.  Topics covered include eliminating waiting lists for the MI Choice waiver program and Home and Community Based Services and improving wages and training for Direct Care Workers.   Representative Rendon and Senator Booher have both proven themselves to be supporters for issues such as these that affect older adults.
