MIO – Amish Country Natural Products hosted ‘Cider Day’ on Oct. 29.

Visitors to the store were treated to a free apple cider pressing demonstration, courtesy of friend of the store, James Linck. Linck used a grinder and a press to convert five or six varieties of apples into the sweet seasonal beverage. He said it takes a crate of apples to produce 1.5 gallons of cider.

While he admits the process is labor intensive, Linck says there is value in making cider the old fashioned way.

‘I just like to use apples to make cider and show people where it comes from,’ he said. ‘I think it helps them appreciate it.’

Amish Country Natural Products is located at 1454 N. Mount Tom Rd. in Mio. For more information call 989-390-5915.
