Breakfast! 2017

< >Breakfast is my favorite first meal of the day. Waking up after a good night’ sleep (Which happens on occasion) or after the usual night’ sleep, waking up a few times thinking about various issues, bills, job bucket, how I’m feeling, and of course a few trips to the bathroom and then trying to get back to sleep!

< >Whatever the night might have been like, there is nothing as wonderful as smelling the coffee brewing, pouring the first cup, sitting in my ‘Comfy Chair’ and sipping the warm, stimulating, goodness that comes out of my coffee mug. Like the commercial says it the ‘Best Part of Waking Up!’

< >At first I do not even think about food, for 10-15 minutes or longer, I watch the news and sip my coffee. At some point of course, I do hear a rumbling in my tummy, a dull ache that suggest it’ time to eat!

< >The first challenge is what do I want to eat? Eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, cereal, pancakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast pastry or maybe last night’ cold pizza with milk. We keep our pantry well stocked.

< >I take my time pondering this important issue. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day according to nutritionists! It gets you off to a great start on going to school, work, chores, retirement or taking a well-deserved nap to begin your day.

< >You would think that after all of the coffee consumption, calorie inducing energetic ‘Mojo’ that a well-consumed breakfast can initiate, how could I possible take a nap?

< >I have found that I enjoy some of my favorite naps following a good ‘Hearty’ breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, buttered toast is often considered ‘Hearty’ must be from all of the cholesterol consumed.

< >There is the ‘light’ breakfast of coffee and orange juice, but I always find that I am hungry about mid-morning after that. I have tried juicing a ‘Healthy’ breakfast, but if found the cost of the organic items to juice, cleaning up the juicer and throwing away the pulp did not satiate my appetite after draining my wallet.

< >The ‘Continental’ breakfast seems too carbohydrate loaded, and I feel hungry even if I consume several items. I think it’ for cooks that don’t like to cook. I’m not a fan of breakfast bars, canned breakfast drinks, shakes or pills. Maybe ‘Tang!’ The astronauts orange juice! No artificial taste here!

< >Now various morning repasts such as smoked salmon, bagels, tomatoes, onions and capers are some of my favorites. I have enjoyed breakfast in other countries; France; I loved their omelets, croissants and baguettes! The French coffee was thick and harshly strong! Netherlands; I loved the cheese and the ‘Hagelslag’ but the smoked eel and something that was brown and tasted like chewing tobacco did not feed the need!

< >United Kingdom: I love Earl Grey tea with one poached egg and scones. Hawaii YES! I love the Kona coffee, so smooth no cream or sugar thank you, the fresh pineapple, and all kinds of fruit awesome! I did purchase some Kona coffee and brought it home to drink, but it never tasted the same as it did on the ‘Island!’ Bermuda; I loved the salted codfish, boiled eggs, potatoes and avocados.

< >I would be remiss without discussing a ‘Texas Style’ breakfast; Sunrise mimosa, steak and eggs or a Tex-Mex omelet with all kinds of hot spicy things in it! Green chilies and hominy cornbread, strong coffee!

< >Well, I better make a decision before it’ lunchtime! Today I’m going to have the leftover cold pizza with a glass of milk, its quick & easy to make, I’m hungry.

< >Feeling well fed after breakfast, I think I’ll take my mid-morning nap and dream of my next vacation destination, and what kind of breakfast I will have at my chosen place! I have always wanted to go to Australia! I hope they have ‘Shrimp on the Barbie’ for breakfast!
