St. Helen chamber chatter

This winter has been weird to say the least. Freezing temps, icy rain, snow, sleet and 40+ degrees this weekend. We still need a winter for the events happening around our area but come February 14, the love can melt the snow. Then everyone will be ready for spring or to continue to ride their snowmobiles if we have any snow left.

Want to do something different on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m.? Well, at the Roscommon High School, you can attend the Jack Pine Conference Wrestling Championship. Seven area schools will be competing at this event. Refreshments will be available and a silent auction will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The fundraiser benefits the Roscommon Varsity Wrestling Club. Go and cheer on our local youths! Positive reinforcement works wonders for everyone.

The St Helen Chamber will be having its Annual Winter in St Helen Medallion Hunt starting on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The clues will be on our website, facebook, posted at the Chamber office and at BS Liquor Store daily by 10 a.m. until it’s found. It is fun to hear the stories of everyone who is looking for it; where they look, other people looking in the same area, walking all around it, etc… Good luck and thank you for participating in this annual event.

The St Helen Snowpackers will be having their 15th Annual SnowRun on Saturday, Feb.11 at the clubhouse. There will be 5 pit stops, lunch on the trail, 50/50’s, silent auction, and the drawing for the U.P. Get Away #2. Everyone do your snow dance so they will have enough snow on the trails. If not, all but one of the stops can be accessed by car or in some cases, the “party vans”. This annual event is so much fun. Meeting new people, talking with old friends, and the mystery ride on Friday night. Support the St Helen Snowpackers by attending/participating in the SnowRun!

“Believe there is a great power silently working all things for good…and never mind the rest.” Beatrix Potter

The Chamber (along with the Richfield Township Downtown Development Authority) will be sponsoring a presentation from the Sawmill Rural Business Center and their small business programs. All Richfield Township businesses are invited or if you are thinking of opening a business stop in. The presentation will be Wednesday, March 29 at the Richfield Township hall. More information next month…

Our next Chamber meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. at our office in the Benjamin Realty building. Everyone is invited to attend. Please remember to shop our local St Helen stores and thank you!
