It is winter enough?

By Betty Bennett
Is there enough snow for you? There is for me!

I have to admit I’m not a real outdoorsy person. I enjoy the beauty of the snow on the trees – a walk along a trail to watch for deer and bunny tracks – or the very tiny tracks of a mouse. But, for my entire life I’ve been the victim of cold hands and feet no matter how much my mother bundled me up.
So – no – I’m not a winter girl.
But I admire those who ski, ice skate, snowmobile, snowshoe – or whatever winter sport you enjoy. I’m sure I am in the minority – so this year should be great for all those winter sports enthusiasts – and it should be good for our business people downtown who cater to them – whether in clothing, accessories or food and drink. We love all our winter visitors.

GPA is now meeting at Gray Rock – as we did last winter. For January and February we meet at noon on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. This because so many of our members are in warmer climates.
The ‘Off’ Tuesdays we meet socially – no agenda – just conversation – at the various restaurants that are part of our Shop Grayling First cards.
As with most organizations, January is planning time for GPA. Some new Committee Chairpersons and new committee members who are all getting to know one another and how to work together. We have Committees for our regular fund raisers and this year there may be something new and exciting. News about that as things progress.
The Pictionary Committee will soon be meeting and planning for another great evening at the Eagles Club. Be thinking about getting your team together for a March evening of fun.

Many GPA members are also work hard with Grayling Mainstreet. They tell me there are many changes coming to ‘Mainstreet’ in the not too distant future. When spring shows her face, you will want to keep your eyes open!

That’ about it for this time. Enjoy the winter – whether outside or curled up with a good book – this is the time to organize, plan – and rest up for the busy spring and summer months.
