For The Love Of Coffee!

There is almost nothing as satisfying as a great pancake and sausage breakfast, finished off with a steaming hot cup of coffee! The cup warms your hands, the aroma scintillating your nostrils screaming wake up! Granted the aroma of fresh brewed coffee is exceptional far exceeding the actual taste of the coffee.

Everyone has their favorite way to drink coffee, there are the coffee purists: black. Some add milk or cream, sugar or some sweetener, honey, cocoa, coconut oil, flavored creams, sprig of cinnamon. Some drink an espresso, Latte, iced coffee or (heaven forbid) decafe coffee!

My favorite activity after downing a full breakfast with coffee is to settle into my ‘Comfy Chair’ and nap until snack time, or some days right through to lunch. I pull a warm snuggly throw blanket around me cocoon style, turn on the widescreen television, and before you know it, nirvana!

As I was losing myself in my nap, I felt a tugging on my shoulder, and as I reentered the world of the living I heard ‘Joel, we are out of coffee, you better run to the store and pick some up if you want some tomorrow!’

I groggily responded ‘Ok!’ I have to have my coffee.

Sometimes I go to our local coffee shop (they are so friendly there) and get some gourmet coffee, but its towards the end of the month, my Social Security check has not come in, so I guess I will see what’ on sale at our local grocery.

I walked down the coffee aisle and in front of my eyes was a smorgasbord to coffees! Instantly coffee commercials began to reverberate in my mind. Do I want to choose one that is ‘Good to the last drop’ or one that is the ‘Best part of waking up’? Do I want the ‘Heavenly Coffee’ or do I want to make Juan Valdez and his faithful burro happy? What about ‘Fill it to the rim? or should I choose Colombian, Arabic or flavored coffee? Really it’ enough to make one ‘Chock Full Of Nuts!’

I finally decided on the store brand, it was on sale BOGO! When I add a little cream and sugar, it will taste great and save a few pennies to boot. I drove back home quite happy with my decision, placed the coffee into the pantry, marched directly back to my ‘Comfy Chair’ to resume my now much needed nap.

Then I heard my wife call out from the kitchen ‘Joel, did you want to buy decafe coffee?’

I thought to myself, no wonder it was BOGO. Oh well, time for my nap!

‘Remember, every day is a gift! Some are just a little more fun to open than others. – Joel
